RACK

Every year I rack my brain to try to find meaningful ways to celebrate Christmas with the family.  One year, I was deeply moved by Advent Conspiracy’s message to Worship Fully, Spend Less, Give More, and Love All.  And as a result, I asked our extended families to refrain from giving gifts to our family and to give of their time by doing special activities with the kids and to give to local charities.  This year I knew I definitely wanted to do some volunteer activities with the children to hit home that Christmas was all about the celebration of the birth of Christ, giving to those in need, counting our blessings and spending time with our loved ones.  For those that know me, you may have gathered by now that I am in over my head with Christmas card orders, canvas gallery wraps, and prints for my clients to give to their families…leaving me with little to no time to spare.  Enter in my sweet friend and incredible photographer, Shalonda, with an awesome gameplan for the 24 days leading up to Christmas.  Along with her bestie, she came up with a list of 24 ideas to celebrate Christmas giving and 24 scripture verses for each day leading up to Christmas day.  She was inspired by this photographer who invented the idea of RACK.  Thankfully, without having to reinvent the wheel, I printed off her downloadable RACK cards and called local charities in our area for volunteer opportunites.  So I took it and ran…

Being the first day of December (nevermind the fact that our advent calender isn’t quite up yet), we spent the first day of giving back with our “RACK:  Random Act of Christmas Kindness” to our local fire station.  Despite my lack of baking abilities, I think they enjoyed their freshly baked straight-out-of-the oven cookies nonetheless.

Hoping that these Random Acts of Christmas Kindness catch on and inspire you to pay it forward…
