Texas forecast: Hot and Humid in August

God bless this sweet family to brave the Texas heat in August…they were troopers!  Their little ones were beautiful, they must get the good looks from their parents!  I thank you so much for your patience with me…it has been a super busy month!  Here’s your sneak peek and I hope to have your gallery ready by the end of the long weekend!  Thanks again, it was fun…I’m looking forward to our next session in the cooler months!   

This lil guy is nothing but ALL SMILES.  I just LOVE it!

Designers’ Showcase

As promised, I plan to start a new tradition of highlighting my favorite designers each year in August.   I couldn’t think of a better time for back-to-school shopping, not to mention getting ready for Christmas.  I’m a big-time Christmas planner and I always strive to find the perfect gift for everyone on my list!  :)   Well, let’s just say that I USED to be an obsessive planner.  Before, I would start planning/shopping early in the year for my friends & family, put up my tree and holiday decorations, have all the presents wrapped and ready to go by Thanksgiving …and then just sit back and relax during the holiday shopping frenzy.  But now that things are crazy busy with my photography (this time of year being the BUSIEST), I’m sad to say that I have since joined the ranks of those last-minute shoppers!

So for all you planners out there (and even for those last-minute shoppers too!), I am going to share some great finds I’ve run across (makes for good gift ideas!) as well as a Designers’ Showcase to spotlight my favorite designers and their extraordinary talent!  To make it easier on you to keep up with the latest news, just hit the “Subscribe” link above and you will receive your very own copy in your inbox.  How easy is that??  Don’t worry, your email address is safe with me…you won’t receive any unsolicited spam, just my latest post!

First up is an incredible designer duo, Pinkie and Black.  I had the wonderful opportunity to work with these two remarkable women (Ms. Pinkie and Ms. Black) and to photograph their new Spring/Summer ’09 line.   The fabrics are colorful and eye-catching and their designs are flirty and playful.  With such fun collections named “Sunshine & Safari”, ”Boho & Dots”, and “Buds & Poppies”, you can imagine the possibilities!

In a single session, we captured five different collections with five little girls showing an outfit from each collection.  Whew!  It was lots of wardrobe changes and I must say, lots of fun!  They were all delightful to work with and pretty darn cute showing off such adorable clothes.   Here’s a special sneak preview of what’s to come…

Good friends, good food, good times…

I had the opportunity to take a break and spend some much-needed QT with the best group of moms around.  I’ve only known these gals for 5 years, but in parenting years it feels like a lifetime together.  They are my support system, my lifeline, my encouragement, and my dearest friends.  We love to laugh together, (shop together!), share our joys and burdens, celebrate and watch our children grow.  I look forward to spending the rest of my life with these ladies and their families.  We’ll all be old and gray and floating down the river…hee hee

If you’ve never visited Gruene, TX, I suggest you head on down there…right. now.  It is incredible!  Gruene was established in 1850 by German immigrants and is now part of New Braunfels, TX.  This great town is home to historic structures, great restaurants, old homes, market days, an art gallery, cozy bed and breakfasts, a winery, and an ice cream parlor.  Gruene Hall, Texas’ oldest dance hall, boasts the birthplace to many great songwriters and musicians – including George Strait, Jerry Jeff Walker, Robert Earl Keen, Lyle Lovett, Hal Ketchum, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, and Charlie Robison.

                             

 

One of my favorite parts of the trip (besides my inner tube overturning in the rapids, getting drenched on the river in a downpour and lightning, and climbing uphill on a slippery, flooded street as passing cars splashed a wave of water onto us…no, really, it was HILARIOUS, trust me!) was taking an antique photo here…LOVED it! 

Does it look like we mean business or what???

Off to drill camp…

Before I head off, I had to post a pic, a sneak peek for my dearest C.  I love you, gal…the kids were talking about “Breda” during breakfast.  E was sad that she will always be “bigger” than him no matter how much protein he ate and how much rest he got…and K was saying, “I love my, Breda!”  It was too cute!
