My girl.

My love.  My sweet.  My snuggles.  My silly monster.  My laughter.  My sassypants.  My happiness.  My baby.

I could not be more thankful to have you in my life.  You brighten my days, make me laugh, and remind me of what it’s like to be a child again -

silly and happy and high on life.   Happy Birthday, my love!

I had taken these pics back in Sept last year, but life got busy last fall and I wasn’t able to post them earlier.  The designer of this dress is amazing and she was so sweet to work with.  You can find more of her dresses in her etsy shop, Emaleigh’s Cupboard.  One of my favorites is her Kyoko Dress in the Joel Dewberry Ginsing Collection.

Transitions.

As we move into the new year, I’m still optimistic to find balance between scheduling time for family, friends, work, household, exercise, and a daily quiet time, not in that order, of course!  (Speaking of which, I have recently discovered this great blog with helpful tips on organizing your life.  A good, quick read!)  But I seem to find every week there are setbacks – a sick child, unexpected emergencies, school projects and parties and so on and so forth.  So I am trying to simply take one day at time and enjoy the here and now to the fullest, not be overwhelmed by my mountain of laundry and never-ending list of to-do’s, and rejoice in the small miracles before me.  Please know I’m working my best to get back on track and I have many great things in store for 2010 for my clients.  It will be worth the wait!

And now on to the reason for this post…just recently I was contacted by a client with a question regarding family clothing choices.  Though I’m loving the new Spring Janie & Jack line, I found it was hard to coordinate clothing for Mom & Dad with these same colors.  So I created a quick family look with some transitional colors for the in between Winter and Spring seasons.  All of it was from the Gap.  And I’ll have more spring looks as the season unfolds.

Fall 2009 – What to wear

Fall 2009 Style – What to Wear

Stumped as to what to wear for your Family Portraits this year?  Take a peek at this awesome guide on What to Wear put together by Michele.   The thing to keep in mind is to find coordinating colors for the whole family, not necessarily the same matching colors.  Also, I usually tell my clients to pick out an outfit for the hardest one to find (usually mom or the sister) and then you can start to build the rest of the family around that outfit.

I recognize that we live in Texas and sweaters may not be the clothing of choice right now, but you can easily accessorize with scarves or vests…or layer your clothing and bring your jackets/sweater for the family picture and  then wear what you have under your jacket for rest of the session!

All of these clothing choices came from www.oldnavy.com or www.bodenusa.com.  A lot of clothing websites will also have some outfit ideas for you as well.  I’ll list some great retailers in my next post for more resources.

I would love to put together some more clothing ideas for you…if you’re still feeling stumped or need some help, feel free to contact me.  Clients have sometimes sent me a link to their outfits online or taken a snapshot of what they have in mind and I’ve given them my input.  It doesn’t have to be new clothing, I can work with what you already have in your closet.  Or I may even have something of my own to add to their clothing choices.  (That’s the beauty of having both a boy and a girl!)

Happy Shopping!   Thanks, Michele, for your awesome styling!
