Family.

This lil one’s mommy and I go way back…like waaaaaaaaaaaay back, before forever ago.  We first met in Kindergarten and have gone through just about everything in this lifetime that you can imagine.  She has been with me through all my firsts, my crushes, my heartaches, and my dreams.  Growing up, she was my best friend, my sister, my stylist, my coach and teacher on life lessons, and my inspiration to be a better me.  She nudged me out of my glasses and into contacts, she helped clean out my closets, she showed me what to wear and how to put on makeup!  She was my college roomie and my Maid of Honor at our wedding.    She knows me all too well…the good, the bad, and definitely the ugly!  And though she lives on the other side of the world, we somehow manage to visit with one another 1-2 times a year.  Oh how I cherish the time we have together.  Without a doubt, it always goes by too quickly!  But on this visit, I insisted on having a session with her sweet angel…can you blame me??   This is simply perfection…

Um, yeah, that’s mom two months after having a baby…??   I think it has to be a crime to look that good!

His Royal Airness.

Thought I’d share just a few more from this session, I couldn’t help myself.  He is absolutely precious!  Is it bad if  I leave every newborn session thinking, “That was my most favorite newborn session EVER!”??

And I know you were probably wondering where the title of this post came from.  In the famous words of my rockstar teacher Jen Hillenga at Texas School, “Wait for it, wait for it….”

Now off to work on my son’s end of year slideshow.  I think there’s only a couple thousand images to go through!  Wish me luck, I’m gonna need it!

I’m back…

Why is it that you always need another vacation once you return from vacation to recover?  I’m thinking it was probably my push to get everything done before I left (staying up til 3am on multiple nights) that started tiring me out on Day 2 of Texas School…and then by the time I got home from Dallas, I was pooped!  Well, I’m trying my best to ramp up my energy level and stay caught up (Well, almost caught up!).  Still editing this session (there are so many that I love!) and as I was zoomed in real close and BIG on my 24″ monitor, I couldn’t take my eyes off of it.  I felt compelled to share the up close version of it with you to demonstrate how it makes such a BIGger statement up close and personal.

Fresh.

There’s nothing more heavenly than the fresh scent of a newborn. For me, it is intoxicating and it takes me back to the time when my lil ones were that tiny. The excitement of bringing them home, the strong sense of belonging, wonder at the sight of their teeny tiny fingers and toes, and the amazement of the miracle of birth and the work of His hands. I can’t think of a sweeter time than this…

Thank you, M & M, for your sweet patience and willingness to try new things. You guys kept me laughing the entire time and I really enjoyed our time together. This session was extra sentimental for me in that my best friend in Japan had just had her baby a few days prior to this session. It was almost like I was right there with them.

Just a few for now, with lots more to come…I’ve been running around like a crazy woman (probably due to lack of sleep!) trying to finish these sessions and prepare for my trip. I’m headed to Texas School this week to learn more about the fine art of photography…it’s been a while since my last workshop so I’m totally ready to submerge myself into all things photography for a few days. And lucky me, I’ll have another newborn waiting for me when I return…
